Welcome to Balaton Uplands National Park !

The primary objective of the Balaton Uplands National Park(founded in 1997) is the comprehensive conservation and protection of exceptional natural assets and areas. Besides protection it is also important to interpret the beautiful landscapes, living and non-living natural values and to provide possibilities for the present and future generation for learning and relaxing in nature.

The area covers 56 997 hectares and we invite You into the most beautiful and valuable landscape , flora, fauna protection areas by the professional guides of the National Park in order to get an unforgettable ecotouristic holiday. You can immerse into the detailed peculiarities under Menu Nature & Wine Holiday - Daily programs or also Menu Responsible travel or Lake Balaton.

The prior mission of Bakony–Balaton Geopark is to protect and interpret the rich geological and geomorphological heritage of Balaton , with the involvement of local people and communities and by launching geotourism activities and educational, awareness raising programs.

The Bakony–Balaton Geopark became member of the European Geoparks Network and the Global Geoparks Network – assisted by UNESCO in 2012.

Through sustainable geoturism, a Geopark would even be able to serve in the development of the local economy. One of the crucial tasks is to make the visitors and the local inhabitants realise the significance of the geological heritage. A Geopark would never lend a helping hand to those who make money selling geological values (for example selling fossils and minerals) nor to those who would damage these values.

Monadnock Ecotourism Services is a registered European Trademark , and chosen from a geological notion: a kind of isolated hill , peculiarly shaped result of the volcanic activity which preserved the original height and layers of the surface of the surrounding, eroded area.

Objectives and mission:

The Monadnock Trademark is founded to:

1. achieve a partnership for nature conservation and responsible tourism development among eco- travel service providers.

2.These goals can be achieved only with the co-operation of the visitors who show responsible behaviour on the protected areas. We believe that You help us to protect nature, do not disturb the habitats and natural values!

3. The right of usage can be deserved by fulfilment of the requires which are special standards of sustainable and responsible travelling and eco-touristic services. The trademark can prove the travellers, that the service provider meets the requirements.

We are proud of that Phoxinus Ltd is able to share the common mission this way.

(The new Monadnock Ecotourism Trademark website will com soon.)

Principles of Ecotourism

Ecotourism is about uniting conservation, communities, and sustainable travel. This means that those who implement and participate in ecotourism activities should follow the following ecotourism principles:

  • Minimize impact.
  • Build environmental and cultural awareness and respect.
  • Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts.
  • Provide direct financial benefits for conservation.
  • Provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people.

Raise sensitivity to host countries' political, environmental, and social climate.

Utilizing the global ecotourism development experiences, TIES helps mainstream sustainability in tourism and inspire positive changes in the industry.
